Power of Relationships

"It’s strange that single-again people believe that if they just had that “new relationship” all the pain would go away. But they’re wrong. Oh sure, there is some truth that “new relationships” do have the power to temporarily remove the pain. Like an anesthesia. But anesthesia doesn’t heal--it masks the pain. When a physical wound occurs, anesthesia is used to mask the pain so surgery can be performed to fix the problem. In a similar way the anesthesia of a “new relationship” will mask the pain—but no healing surgery occurs. So the latter end is worse than the former. However, there is a better anesthesia than a “new relationship.” The better anesthesia is called “recovery group.” The anesthesia of a “recovery group” both provides the safe place to make radical changes in your life and offers the support needed for genuine long lasting healing to occur."
